Mallaig is the hub for a network of ferry services to Skye, the Small Isles and Knoydart and is also the endpoint of the one of the most beautiful Railway Journeys in the world which can be travelled via either normal train service or the Jacobite steam train.

As well as having a working fishing harbour, the village has several pubs, restaurants, shops, a heritage centre, art gallery and a swimming pool.

Located in Lochaber which is well known for being the home of UKs highest mountain Ben Nevis, the area also contains some of Scotlands other outstanding natural features such as the UKs deepest Loch (Loch Morar), shortest river (River Morar) the most westerly point on mainland UK (Ardnamurchan Point).

The local beaches offer a natural playground for all the family. You can spend the day on the famous Silver Sands of Morar or even the magical white Camusdarach Beach with its unrivalled views across to Rum & Eigg. The area also offers the chance to visit some famous film scene locations:
